New Feature Blitz! Today - Day view!

the new day view!

Ok so I’m going to post a myriad of posts soon outlining some of our newest features, one feature at a time. Today’s new feature is actually a bunch of features wrapped up into one: the new Day View!Ok it works like this: you have a grid representing your day, and you draw a box to create an event. You choose a calendar and the box changes to the color of that calendar. Type in an event name, hit “enter” and you’re done! It’s the quickest way to create an event! If you’re so inclined, you may also modify the event’s duration and start time by resizing and dragging around the box. Fun!

quick add your tasks!
There’s more to this new view than fancy event addition and modification! Yes sir! There’s also fancy task addition! If you’re like me, you enjoy keeping a running list of things you’re supposed to be doing. This is the best place in the world (yes, the world) to modify this task list. Just type in what you want to do (”milk the cows”), pick a calendar (”daily farm chores”) and hit enter. It saves your last calendar selection so when you want to create a new task (”put all chicken eggs in one basket”) then all you have to do is type it and hit “enter”. Simple and fun. We’re all about that.

enter a daily note!
But wait, there’s ever more! Just below the task list is a nice little sheet of paper tacked to your day view. This is for personal notes for that day. It works well as a general reminder: “Don’t forget to code awesome things into Jotlet today!”. At least, that’s what I use it for. You can use it however you please, such as flattery: “You sure are one good looking fellow right now!”

print out your schedule!
Underneath that piece of paper is a “print this day” button, that allows you to create a printout of that days’ activities, tasks and note. When you fold that printout into quadrants, it makes a nice little wallet-sized booklet! A Jotlet Booklet!

So we hope you enjoy these new Day View features. We sure sure! If you have any ideas on how to make Jotlet work better for you, then drop us a line!If you don’t have a Jotlet account yet, be sure and get one! It’s the most fun you’ll have organizing things since, well, probably ever.

Major update to Jotlet!

You may have noticed our new site and new style for Jotlet, but extra good looks aren’t all we’ve added - this release has packed some serious change into Jotlet. With this latest version, Jotlet loads over 4 times faster and runs over twice as fast! We’ve also added a myriad of new features - big and small - packed into this latest release.

If you have any feature suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’ll be releasing updates to Jotlet at least every 2 weeks, and user requests are a huge priority for us!

Until then, enjoy the calendar!

Introducing the Jotlet Facebook Extension!

That’s right! Jotlet has Facebook integration! Now you can view and share your Jotlet calendar from directly within Facebook. We’ve packed some exciting new functionality into this handy new extension, including:

  1. Share your Jotlet.net calendars with your Facebook friends
You can share your calendars to any of your Facebook friends, even if they’re not Jotlet users!
  2. Publish your calendar to all (or some) of Facebook
Think “public share”. Publish your calendar to your friends or to the entire Facebook community (you decide!)
  3. View Facebook events and birthdays inline with your Jotlet schedule
The Jotlet extension makes it easy to see all of your information in one place.

It’s always been easy to manage your schedule at Jotlet.net, and now it’s even easier to share it with your friends and family. Check out the about page on Facebook, or go straight to the Jotlet Extention.

note from Matt :

Kudos to Adam for putting up a fully functional Facebook app! This Jotlet application doesn’t merely show your calendar, it utilizes Facebook’s social infrastructure to allow you to share your calendars with your friends, and even publish events to a global level.

It’s perfect for any group, and it’s great for anyone who needs to share their itinerary with their friends.

Print View and a Performance Update

Just a quick note to let you guys know that we released a small update this morning. When looking at your day view, you’ll notice a brand new print button! This’ll pop up a super handy printout of your day’s events, tasks, and notes. Thanks to all of you who’ve requested this feature! If you’ve got a feature you’d like to see implemented in Jotlet, let us know!

Besides the new print view, the majority of this week’s changes are under the hood. We’ve been busy optimizing Jotlet to load faster and run faster. This is round 1 of a 2 part performance update, so expect speed and performance to continue to improve.

I’m excited to say that our to-do list is nearly never-ending, so be prepared for more and more updates coming soon!

Anything we can do, you can do better!

Fresh off the heels of our “Publish” feature, we are happy to announce the public launching of our developer API!

Thanks to those who have requested an API ahead of time and have been testing it for us. We really appreciate it!

This iteration of our API allows you to:

  • add, edit, delete events / tasks / calendars
  • obtain minimal profile information (time zone and date stamp preferences, not private information)
  • load daily notes

Our developer page has all the documentation you need to get started. We’ll be upgrading this portion of our site soon with lots of examples, a forum, and of course, featured widgets and tools from you!

We’re really looking forward to any cool tools you guys can build with the API. When you finish your Jotlet powered masterpiece… let us know and we’ll feature it on our developer’s page

As you’re working with the API, don’t hesitate to email us personally. When we’re not working on Jotlet, we’re happy to help you work with Jotlet!

Sharing your calendar is even easier!

Less than a week ago we released our Publish feature, which lets you easily add your Jotlet schedule to any webpage. Today, I’m excited to say that you can publish any number of your color-coded Jotlet calendars to a custom URL on Jotlet.net.

Check out the sample here!

You can even publish different calendars to different URLs from the same account! This means you can publish and manage you family’s reunion schedule, your poker-night schedule, and your cycling group’s riding schedule all in the same Jotlet.net account.

So publish away, and spread the word!

Put Jotlet on your website!

We’re super excited to announce the release of our new “Publish” feature! You can find this feature under the “advanced” button in the top right (also home of “import”, “export” and our most excellent Netvibes widget).

“Publish” is a feature we’ve gotten the most requests for recently, so we made it priority #1. We’ve put quite a bit of thought (and love!) into this feature, and we’re sure you’ll love its simplicity and functionality.
One major aspect we focused on is security. Your data’s security is very important to us, so we wanted to create a simple way to manage multiple websites as well as stop a particular publication whenever you want. We’re pleased with our results and we’re confident you’ll enjoy it as well!

We have a publish tutorial up now to help get you started, but hopefully it’s so easy to use you won’t need it =).

If anyone would like to create a Wordpress widget or plug-in please let us know! We’d love your help!

Also, if you’d like to request a feature, or have any questions about current features, feel free to contact us. We’ll answer promptly I promise!

Import is here! and it’s only the beginning…

Advanced WindowWe’ve added button to Jotlet’s header called “advanced”. This new advanced window is where we plan to fill Jotlet with some exciting new features. The first 3 such features are: the fancy new import feature, the export menu, and a page describing our Netvibes integration.

We’re looking forward to filling up this new little window more exciting integration points! RSS is an obvious addition, and it’s coming soon. We’re also looking at facebook integration, as well as a plethora of other ideas. If you’ve got something on your wish list, let us know!

We’ve also been busy making Jotlet even faster. We’re shrinking our files for faster download, and optimizing our code to the most bang for our processor buck. Look for even more speed ups in the near future.

Introducing the Jotlet Tab for Netvibes

We have gotten tremendous feedback on our previous Netvibes module, and today we’re excited to announce our fully-featured Jotlet Calendar Tab for Netvibes. The new Jotlet Tab gives you full access to your Jotlet Calendar. You can manage your events and tasks, share your calendars, and even set up email and SMS reminders! You can even use the Jotlet Tab in your own language!

Now its easier than ever to stay organized. All of Jotlet.net has been packed into this new Tab to let you easily check up on your schedule without leaving your Netvibes start page.

Add the Jotlet Tab to your Netvibes page!

(The tab should have a 1 column layout to let Jotlet take up the full tab. If it’s not 1 column, click the little down arrow in the Tab to change it to the 1 column layout as needed.)
