Jotlet acquired by Jive Software!

I’m very excited to announce that Jotlet has been acquired by Jive Software! We met Jive at the Office 2.0 Conference last September, and since then we’ve been talking with them about how best to integrate Jotlet into ClearSpace - their flagship enterprise collaboration software. During our talks, it was clear that our long term goals and philosophy about calendaring, organization, and collaboration in the enterprise were extremely in sync. We inked the contract just last week, and the rest, they say, is history.

What will become of Jotlet?
For now, Jotlet will continue to operate as normal, and we’ll of course follow through with all of our outstanding commercial contracts. In terms of integration with Jive, we’ll be able to leverage our JavaScript API to bring extremely rich calendaring functionality into ClearSpace.

What about my user account? Can I still sign up?
Your personal accounts are still online and available, and we will continue to offer free personal accounts for the foreseeable future (). We will, of course, keep in constant communication with our users as we decide more.

Still enjoying the ride,

Adam Wulf

Jotlet JavaScript API coming soon, and here’s a sneak peak!

I am finally breaking our blog’s ominous silence, and it couldn’t be for a better reason! Today we’re announcing an extensive JavaScript API, and we’re asking for developers to help us beta test it! If you’re interested in working with our pre-release API, let us know, and we’ll get you an API key pronto!

What exactly is the API?

I’ll explain with a comparison: The Google Maps API changed how interactive maps were used on the internet. Not only did they make maps easier for the end user to browse and search, but easier for the developer and web-designer to set up and maintain. Google provided a generic map interface, and developers could extend and modify it to their hearts content. Suddenly it was incredibly easy to set up a map with custom locations and text filled right in!

Just like the Google Maps API, our new JavaScript API lets you embed a calendar straight into your own website using only some JavaScript and CSS - no iframes. Developers can now integrate a fully functional AJAX calendar directly into their site with only a few lines of code! In fact, I’ve included a sample calendar embedded right into this blog post. But not only can you embed one of our sample calendars into your webpage, you can even use our API to create your own custom calendar interface. You can build your very own custom interface, use our standard month, week, day, and list views, or anything in between!

Sync to Outlook Officially Released!

Last month at the Office 2.0 Conference, we demo’d our new Sync-to-Outlook feature. Today, I’m excited to announce that we’re officially releasing this feature to all of our users! Jotlet makes it easy to manage your schedule online and offline, and even share and publish your calendar to friends and family.

And of course, Sync-to-Outlook is 100% free for life!

With most other applications, synchronization has typically been a complex and difficult process, but we have spent quite a bit of time working to make Jotlet’s new Sync-to-Outlook feature as extremely simple. With our new Sync Shelf interface, you can easily add and manage all of your separate devices in one simple window.

With this first release, we support the Funambol Outlook plugin. Since our sync technology is based on the widely accepted SyncML standards, we plan to support a wide variety of devices soon, including Blackberry handhelds, Apple iCal, and a myriad of phones. As always, we’ll be updating regularly, so let us know what features and devices you want to see in our next release.

Jotlet Online Calendar Keeps Home and Business in Sync

HOUSTON (September 5, 2007) – This month, entrepreneurs Adam M. Wulf and Matthew R. Wilson, co-founders of Jotlet, LLC, announce 3 compelling new features and service offerings for their web-based Jotlet Online Calendar at the Office 2.0 Conference in San Francisco, California. The presentation will reveal full two-way sync with Microsoft Outlook, corporate customizations and re-branding, and a partnership with the ShareMethods, for its ShareOffice online office suite. Seven years ago, Wulf and Wilson recognized the need for sophisticated online calendar software for both corporate and personal users alike. Their partnership has since grown into what is now Jotlet Online Calendar (http://www.jotlet.net), which provides free online calendar accounts for personal use, as well as fully customized solutions for corporate clients.

The newest addition to Jotlet’s powerful arsenal of features is its ability to be synchronized via SyncML to a variety of devices. The feature launch this month will include official support for Microsoft Outlook, with support for a wide array of electronic and handheld devices, PDAs, and other desktop calendar clients coming soon after. With Jotlet, users can quickly and easily keep one or more desktop calendars in sync with all or part of their Jotlet calendar.

Jotlet’s second announcement at the conference will highlight the opportunity for companies to tailor Jotlet Online Calendar to the company’s specific workflow and business process. Jotlet provides customized event and task entry forms, advanced reporting tools, fully configurable user permissions and security, and an administrator’s panel to fine-tune Jotlet features per user or user group. Full website integration and corporate branding is even available to compliment a company’s current online offering. Interested parties are invited to contact Jotlet to discuss how Jotlet can fit into their business strategy.

Lastly, Jotlet has formed a strategic partnership with ShareMethods.com, a leading provider of online collaborative office tools and applications. Jotlet integrates with ShareMethods’ online document storage and editing, allowing users to easily schedule meetings, attach agendas and presentations, and share their schedule and documents with co-workers. Combined with Jotlet’s new two-way sync feature and corporate customizations, companies can easily optimize and streamline their current business processes by upgrading to Jotlet and ShareMethods.

Jotlet provides calendaring services to individuals, churches, dental and medical offices, physician’s practices and small businesses in various industries. Throughout the U.S. and Europe, these users provide a steady flow of positive feedback about Jotlet’s ease of use and efficiency. Encouraging reviews have also been posted by a wide variety of technical and industry bloggers.

Vexor Medically Advanced Wellness Inc., a mobile medical imaging company based in Houston, Texas, hired Jotlet to create a completely customized online calendar that would help them schedule their patients across more than 8 separate branch offices.

“We not only needed an online calendar that would be simple and efficient for the office staff, but we also needed a large capacity of information to be delivered to our technicians in real time,” explains Greg Rainbolt, Vexor’s chief operating officer. “We have extensively researched and used many online calendars and this is by far the best on the market. It has been customized to fit our needs exactly and efficiently, and it will grow with us as our company grows. Jotlet really came through for us.”

Business customization and partnership inquiries can be sent to adam@jotlet.net. Personal accounts are available for free by signing up at http://www.jotlet.net.

Office 2.0 Conference

I’m excited to announce that we will be at the Office 2.0 Conference this September 5-7 in San Francisco!

We’ve been burning the midnight oil getting new features ready to show off at the conference, so expect some major feature upgrades and service offerings over the next month as we slowly roll out all of our new code.

iPhone Acquired! iPhone-centric site coming soon!

Howdy folks!

So my wife was nice enough to stand in line at the local Apple Store to procure an iPhone for Jotlet!

I’m still not sure what Mr. Jobs meant when he said developers will be able to interact with iPhone functionality and all that jazz (there’s still no specific development information other than “make a web site “). Until then, make a web site is precisely what we’ll do.

If you have any ideas you’d like to see implemented, let us know soon! We’ll be developing it pretty rapidly. Don’t worry, we’ll make it super slick!

Many of you have wondered if I could make a tutorial on how to make the iPhone icons I made earlier. My answer: “of course I can!” so I’ll work on that a bit today and hopefully have it up on Monday!

Major update to Jotlet!

You may have noticed our new site and new style for Jotlet, but extra good looks aren’t all we’ve added - this release has packed some serious change into Jotlet. With this latest version, Jotlet loads over 4 times faster and runs over twice as fast! We’ve also added a myriad of new features - big and small - packed into this latest release.

If you have any feature suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact us! We’ll be releasing updates to Jotlet at least every 2 weeks, and user requests are a huge priority for us!

Until then, enjoy the calendar!

Introducing the Jotlet Facebook Extension!

That’s right! Jotlet has Facebook integration! Now you can view and share your Jotlet calendar from directly within Facebook. We’ve packed some exciting new functionality into this handy new extension, including:

  1. Share your Jotlet.net calendars with your Facebook friends
You can share your calendars to any of your Facebook friends, even if they’re not Jotlet users!
  2. Publish your calendar to all (or some) of Facebook
Think “public share”. Publish your calendar to your friends or to the entire Facebook community (you decide!)
  3. View Facebook events and birthdays inline with your Jotlet schedule
The Jotlet extension makes it easy to see all of your information in one place.

It’s always been easy to manage your schedule at Jotlet.net, and now it’s even easier to share it with your friends and family. Check out the about page on Facebook, or go straight to the Jotlet Extention.

note from Matt :

Kudos to Adam for putting up a fully functional Facebook app! This Jotlet application doesn’t merely show your calendar, it utilizes Facebook’s social infrastructure to allow you to share your calendars with your friends, and even publish events to a global level.

It’s perfect for any group, and it’s great for anyone who needs to share their itinerary with their friends.
